SirenaHuang_2006-_音乐神童黄凯珉小提琴表演技惊四座_

(Music) [00:12]
(Applause) [08:28]
Hi everyone. I'm Sirena. [08:46]
I'm 11 years old and from Connecticut. [08:48]
(Applause) [08:54]
Well, I'm not really sure why I'm here. [08:58]
(Laughter) [09:03]
I mean, what does this have to do with technology , entertainment and design? [09:05]
have to do with:与…有关; technology:n.技术;工艺;术语;
Well, I call my iPod, cellphone and computer as technology but this has nothing to do with that. [09:11]
cellphone:n.蜂窝式便携无线电话;大哥大;
So I did a little research on it. [09:19]
Well, this is what I found. [09:22]
Of course, I hope I can memorize it. [09:23]
memorize:v.记住;记忆;
The violin is basically made of a wood box and four main strings . [09:27]
basically:adv.主要地,基本上; strings:一串,悬挂(string的第三人称单数和复数)
By playing the string, the string vibrates and produces a sound wave . [09:30]
vibrates:v.使震动;使颤动;使摆动(vibrate的第三人称单数); sound wave:n.声波;
Sound passes through a piece of wood called a bridge and goes down to the wood box and gets amplified but ... let me think. [09:32]
amplified:v.放大;详述(amplify的过去分词);adj.放大的;扩充的;
(Laughter) [09:40]
Okay. On the other hand by placing your finger in a different position on the fingerboard it changes the string length that changes the frequency of the sound wave. [09:41]
On the other hand:另一方面; frequency:n.频率;发生率;重复率;频繁;
Oh, my gosh! [09:50]
(Laughter) [09:52]
Okay. This is sort of a technology but I can call it a 16th century technology. [09:53]
But actually, the most fascinating thing that I found was that the audio system or wave transmission nowadays are still basically based on the same principle of producing and projecting sound. [10:02]
fascinating:adj.极有吸引力的;迷人的;v.深深吸引;迷住;(fascinate的现在分词) audio:adj.声音的;录音的; transmission:n.传输;传染;播送;发射;广播;传动装置; principle:n.原理,原则;主义,道义;本质,本义;根源,源泉;
Isn't that cool? [10:14]
(Laughter) [10:16]
(Applause) [10:19]
Design -- I love its design. [10:26]
I remember when I was little my mum asked me, would you like to play the violin or the piano? [10:29]
I looked at that giant monster and said to myself -- [10:34]
giant:n.巨人;伟人;巨兽;adj.巨大的;特大的 monster:n.怪物;恶魔;庞然大物;adj.巨大的;
I am not going to lock myself on that bench the whole day. [10:39]
This is small and light weight. [10:44]
I can play from standing, sitting or walking. [10:47]
And you know what? [10:49]
The best of all is that if I don't want to practise [10:50]
practise:v.练习;实习;训练;经常做;执业;
I can hide it. [10:55]
(Laughter) [10:57]
The violin is very beautiful. [11:01]
Some people relate it as the shape of a lady but whether you like it or not it's been so for more than 400 years, and unlike modern stuff that easily looks dated. [11:03]
stuff:n.东西:物品:基本特征:v.填满:装满:标本:
But I think it's very personal and unique that, although each violin looks pretty similar that no two violins sound the same. [11:15]
personal:adj.个人的;身体的;亲自的;n.人事消息栏;人称代名词; unique:adj.独特的,稀罕的;[数]唯一的;n.独一无二的人或物;
Even from the same maker or based on the same model. [11:23]
Entertainment -- I love the entertainment but actually, the instrument itself isn't very entertaining. [11:27]
instrument:n.仪器;工具;乐器;手段;器械;
I mean, when I first got my violin and tried to play around it was actually, really bad because it didn't sound like the way I'd heard from other kids so horrible and so scratchy so it wasn't entertaining at all. [11:36]
play around:玩耍;胡搞;轻率对待; horrible:可怕的,极讨厌的, scratchy:adj.潦草的;刺痒的;草率的;发刮擦声的;
But besides , my brother found this very funny. [11:53]
besides:adv.此外;而且;prep.除…之外;
Yuk, yuk, yuk. [11:58]
(Laughter) [12:01]
A few years later I heard a joke about the greatest violinst, Jascha Heifetz. [12:07]
After Mr. Heifetz's concert a lady came over and complimented , [12:11]
complimented:v.赞美;称赞;钦佩(compliment的过去分词和过去式)
Oh, Mr. Heifetz, your violin sounded so great tonight. [12:15]
And Mr. Heifetz was a very cool person so he picked up his violin and said, funny, I don't hear anything. [12:19]
(Laughter) [12:25]
And now, I realize that as the musician, we human beings, we have a great mind, artistic heart and skill that can change the 16th century technology and a legendary design to a wonderful entertainment. [12:28]
artistic:adj.艺术的;风雅的;有美感的; legendary:adj.传说的,传奇的;n.传说集;圣徒传;
Now, I know why I'm here. [12:43]
(Music) [12:46]
(Applause) [16:24]
At first I just thought I was going to be here to perform but unexpectedly , I learned and enjoyed much more. [16:31]
perform:v.表演;执行;履行;演出;工作,运转(好/不好); unexpectedly:adv.出乎意料地,意外地;
But ... although some of them were quite up there for me. [16:40]
(Laughter) [16:46]
Like the multi-dimension stuff. [16:50]
I mean, honestly, I'd be happy enough if I can actually get my two dimension correct in school. [16:54]
dimension:n.方面;[数]维;尺寸;次元;容积vt.标出尺寸;adj.规格的;
(Laughter) [16:59]
But actually, the most impressive thing to me is that ... well, actually, [17:03]
impressive:adj.感人的;令人钦佩的;给人以深刻印象的;
I would also like to stand for this for all children is to say, thank you, to all adults for actually caring for us a lot and to make our future world much better. [17:07]
Thank you. [17:20]
(Applause) [17:22]
(Music) [17:31]
(Applause) [22:21]
(Music) [22:48]
(Applause) [24:32]
