And I was supposed to be frightened , too. 我感到害怕也是理所当然。

But I kept having these odd experiences. 但我一直经历各种奇怪的事情。

This time, an officer brought me his coat to keep me warm, because I lost my coat on the frozen river while battling with one of these soldiers. 这一次,一名军官 给我一件他的大衣 让我保持温暖, 因为之前我在那条冻河上 与其中一名士兵争执时, 丢失了自己的大衣。
I will tell you what I mean by these odd experiences. 通过告诉你们这些奇怪的经历, 我会说明我想表达的意思。
I grew up in South Korea. 我在韩国长大。
To us, North Korea was always the enemy, even before I was born. 对我们来说,朝鲜一直都是敌人, 甚至在我出生以前就如此。
South and North have been under armistice for 63 years, since the end of the Korean War. 朝鲜和韩国从朝鲜战争结束以来 已经停战 63 年了。

This young guard came to my cell and offered me this small boiled egg and said, "This will give you strength to keep going." 一名年轻的看守来到我的牢房, 给了我一枚小小的煮鸡蛋, 并且对我说: 「这将会给你带来前行的力量。」
Do you know what it is like, receiving a small kindness in the enemy's hand? 你知道从敌人的手中 得到一份小小的仁慈, 这种感觉像什么吗？

Every day was like a psychological battle. 每一天过得都像是 一场心理上的斗争。

The interrogator had me sit at a table six days a week and had me writing down about my journey , my work, over and over until I wrote down the confession that they wanted to hear. 一周中有六天,审讯者 让我坐在一个桌子前, 让我写下我的旅途、我的工作, 一次又一次,直到我写下 他们想要听到的供词。

One day, they invited all these female colleagues -- 有一天,她们邀请了些女同事──

And I learned that these girls also grew up watching a similar cartoon, but just propaganda towards South Korea and the US. 我瞭解到这些女孩同样是看着 相似的卡通成长起来的, 不过是对韩国和美国的政治宣传。
I started to understand where these people's anger was coming from. 我开始理解这些人的 愤怒是来自于哪里了。
If these girls grew up learning that we are enemies, it was just natural that they would hate us just as I feared them. 如果这些女孩子们成长时 认为我们是敌人, 她们会自然而然地仇恨我们, 就好像我畏惧她们一样。
But at that moment, we were all just girls who shared the same interests, beyond our ideologies that separated us. 但在那个时刻,我们都只是普通女孩, 有着同样的兴趣, 不再囿于成见。
